The City of Kwinana is full of talent, both young and not-so-young, in many areas of life. The annual City of Kwinana photography competition, this year capturing the area’s inspiring places, people, and things, is a demonstration of the area's artistic and photographic talents.

Entrants this year were asked to capture an aspect of Kwinana that they felt had played an inspiring/significant role in their life. I was lucky enough to meet with local Parmelia resident, Grace Laugher, winner of the Youth category ages 13 -25. Grace's photo of the BHP Nickel Refinery encapsulates the area's industrial origins, whilst also pointing to Kwinana's natural bushlands.

Kwinana has a unique role in Western Australia's past, a role that will only expand and develop into the future. Grace's photo captures this fact in one image, and she has been kind enough to allow me to display her artwork in my local office, something which I very much look forward to doing.
